Consider the so-called “Bullying Bill” – House Bill 370 . . . THIS IS IMPORTANT!
HB 370, “The Bullying Bill,” which specifically protects homosexuals from harassment has passed favorably out of the House Education Committee. The bill has very troubling consequences for people who have religious and/or moral opposition to homosexuality. This is not an anti-bullying bill. This is a bullying bill directed towards people of faith.
GO TO http://www.votervoice.net/Groups/AFAKY/Advocacy/?IssueID=23946&SiteID=-1 TO SEND A MESSAGE TO your state representative, state senator and the senate education committee.
The Bullying Bill is a recipe for politically correct speech codes in our public schools.
While this bill purports to restrict bullying, the new language could result in the harassment and intimidation of students with religious and morally-based reservations about homosexuality.
By issuing a “protected class” status for homosexual students, the homosexual movement seeks to communicate homosexuality as an acceptable alternative to school children and recognize them as a special group with special protections.
The bill would place special protections for gays, transgender and cross-dressing students into the state’s public school laws for the first time.
The bill adds “sexual orientation,” “gender identity and expression,” and “other distinguishing personal characteristics” to the list of protections for harassment.
The bill is unnecessary as there are existing statutes that already restrict bullying directed towards all people.
The motivation of passing this legislation is not what is advertised as the impetus for this bill is not coming from school administrators who need it to stop bullying, but special interest groups who want it to further their political agenda. The intent of this bill is re-education and indoctrination.
